Welcome to Story Spark Sunday, where each week I’ll post a short, creative prompt to help you stretch your writing muscles. Your challenge? Write up to 500 words inspired by the spark — no pressure to be perfect, just get the words flowing.
Whether it turns into a full story, a scene for your novel, or just a fun detour, this is about building momentum, one idea at a time.
You don’t have to share it with anyone. But if you do, I’d love to hear how it went.
Now grab a brew, open a blank doc, and get stuck in.
Sunday 22nd June
Your character crashes through the door of a crowded café, out of breath, bleeding slightly, and clutching something mysterious. They glance behind them, clearly being chased. The patrons freeze. One whispers, “Is that who I think it is?”
Now what?
✍️ Ideas to Play With:
- What is the object they’re carrying — and why does it matter?
- Who’s after them? Are they dangerous? Official? Something else?
- Do they trust anyone in the café? Or is help the last thing they’ll get?
🧠 Bonus Twist (Optional):
Let the reader discover your character’s name only at the very end. Keep them guessing.
